EB Fund During Covid 19 Pandemic

Restrictive measures and lockdown due to spread of Covid19 infection have changed the activities of the EB Fund: we were not able to visit and take part in scientific conferences of our partners in the Komi Republic, Murmansk and Arkhangelsk Oblast.

But the projects went on. Together with the Norwegian partners the decision was made to extend the project activities for one more quarter.

Scientific conferences were organized and conducted in the format of videoconferences; their program was expanded, it included issues of compliance with infection control measures when working with patients with Covid 19, as well as issues of clinics, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation of patients with Covid 19 who are on tuberculosis treatment in the Republic of Komi, Murmansk and Arkhangelsk Oblasts. The experts of the International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases MD Einar Heldal (Norway), Dr. Ole Rysstad, Dr. Rita Heleren, Dr. Benedicte Severinsen, Head nurse Marianne Jacobsen, Dr. Ulf Peter Kopp, Dr. Tine Nyberg, Dr. Birgit Lie, Dr. Marte Cameron - specialists from Sorlandet Hospital (Norway). The conferences were moderated by Andrey Maryandyshev, professor, MD, chief Phthisiatrician of the North-West Russia and the Arkhangelsk Oblast.

The activities implemented with reference to the patient-centered technologies were significantly expanded: due to the lockdown, the number of patients receiving tuberculosis treatment on an outpatient basis increased, namely those on home based treatment and those receiving VOT, material support was organized for the patients in need in Severodvinsk and Syktyvkar, food parcels were given out, smartphones for VOT were purchased, communication services were paid.

We will continue doing our job! And its forms can change ...
