More Volunteers To Come!

EB Fund team and a NARFU lecturer held a seminar for students of the Higher School of Economics, Management, Law and Higher School of Psychology and Pedagogical Education on October 27, 2017, dedicated to the social relevance of volunteering, preventing tuberculosis, HIV / AIDS, bad habits, and the connection between smoking, tuberculosis and other diseases. Students with great interest discussed with Dmitry Nizovtsev, a NARFU lecturer, the notions of volunteering and social responsibility. The students watched the film by Johannes Hogebrink about the stigma and other issues associated with tuberculosis, common in Russian society; difficulties and experiences of young people who fell sick with tuberculosis, their hopes and victories over this disease! Polina, an Art student, showed the world her emotions and feelings by presenting a series of her paintings “Hold Your Breath” in the Omelchenko Gallery, Moscow. Nina Nizovtseva, chair of the EB Fund, talked about the fund's activities, tuberculosis prevention and the stigma associated with this disease in modern society, Aleksandra Avdeeva conducted a small quiz on symptoms of tuberculosis, harm of smoking and other addictions and showed a short video about an Indonesian 2 y.o. boy who smoked 40 cigarettes a day. The seminar was summed up with a Smokelyzer test There were 30 students involved in the process. In the forthcoming days, students will be acting as volunteers, distributing information materials about smoking cessation and also inviting their friends and close ones to do a fluorography test.
