Development of Cooperation with the Republic of Komi

July 18-19, 2017, the chief phthisiatrist of the North-Western Russia, Professor A. Maryandyshev, together with the representatives of the EB Fund, N. Nizovtseva and R. Vasilyeva, visited Syktyvkar.

In the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Komi, a meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Health Yevgeniya G. Kotova, Deputy Chief Physician of the republican TB Dispensary Yekaterina N. Zhiglova and Arkhangelsk representatives. The meeting discussed issues of cooperation for 2017-2018.

Since 2017, the international project "Reduce the Burden of Tuberculosis in the Komi Republic" has started its work.

The project includes three patient-oriented components:

- Social support for people living with HIV during the outpatient phase of anti-tuberculosis treatment;

- Introduction of the elements of "Digital Health" for outpatient treatment of tuberculosis patients

("In-Touch" project);

- Competence building in health workers on tuberculosis, tuberculosis and HIV topics.

Practical issues of component implementation were solved.

The Fund's cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Komi began in 2016. The participants of the cooperation are the Ministry of Health of the Komi Republic, the Northern State Medical University, the Easy Breathing Charity Fund (Russia) and LHL International (Norway). In March 2016 a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the partners.

The goal of the cooperation is joint implementation of activities aimed at reducing the prevalence of tuberculosis in the territory of the Republic of Komi.
